Trophy Stall donates champion trophies for Rising Sun Turf Club meet Sunday

Jonathan Sunich, Canada born son of the popular Ramesh Sunich, proprietor of the Trophy Stall, Bourda Market, yesterday handed over the champion trophies to a representative of the Guyana Association of Police Women for Sunday’s horse race meet at the Rising Sun Turf Club.

Sunday’s meet is a collaborative effort between the Rising Sun Turf Club, and the Guyana Association of Women Police, and the event will be held at Arima Park, Rising Sun, West Coast Berbice.

Over two million dollars in prize money is at stake for the five race meet and trophies donated by Sunich’s Trophy Stall enterprise will also be at stake.

The feature event for the day will be for the E class horses and, according to reports, most of the country’s top stables including the Jumbo Jet, the Shariff Stables and the Bacchus Hard Running Stables, will participate at the meet.

The feature event, for horses classified E and lower, carries a first prize of $300,000 while the J class race first prize is $160,000 and trophy. The K class event has $140,000 and trophy at stake for the winner while the ‘L’ class event will see $120,000 and a trophy going to the winner.

The final event of the day will be for Guyana bred maiden two-year-old horses where the first prize is $100,000 and a trophy.
