Florida planning to host T20 series between India and West Indies

FLORIDA, CMC- Plans are in the pipeline for Florida to host a T20 international series between World Champions West Indies and India next month, a leading cricket official here has reported.

Discussion on the series being planned for the end of August is being held in Florida between officials of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCC) and the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB).

Broward Parks & Recreation Manager, Duncan Finch, said he was approached by WICB officials on his venue’s availability to host two or three T20Is after the four-Test series between West Indies and India, scheduled to end in Trinidad on August 22.

“We had an email inquiring about late-August availability of the stadium by representatives of the WICB last week,” Finch told ESPNcricinfo.

“We have August 24 to 27, and they were asking about Sunday, August 28, as well. We would have to cancel a small event to give them the Sunday.”

The WICB is also reported to have reached out to the ICC for sanctioning permission to host the games in the USA.

If agreement is reached, the T20 Internationals between India and West Indies would be the first Full Member matches in the USA since a T20 series between West Indies and New Zealand in 2012.

The Florida facility, Central Broward Stadium, will host six Caribbean Premier League games between July 28 and 31.
