J/ca U19s 97-5 against Guyana

Jamaica’s U19 cricketers were 97 for five at the close of play of the first day of their West Indies Cricket Board’s three day competition against Guyana at the Park Hill Playing Field St Vincent and the Grenadines yesterday.

Only 38.4 overs were possible on yesterday’s first day and the Guyanese were indebted to Bhaskar Yadram who grabbed two wickets and Akenie Adams who picked up three.

Adams removed opener Keshawn Beale caught and bowled for 13 while Yadram clean bowled the other opening batsman Jordane Hill for 24.

Yadram struck again removing number three batsman Brad Barnes to a catch by Joshua Persaud for an eight-ball duck while Adams dismissed Javelle Glenn to a catch by Raymond Perez for five.

Adams captured his third wicket by bowling Tyrone Daley for four.

Michael Frew 20 not out and Jeavor Royal not out 16 were together at the close.

At the Arnos vale Playing Field Trinidad and Tobago were 312 for six wickets at the close of play in their encounter against Barbados.

Trinidad won the toss and batted and were indebted to a century from number four batsman Kirstan Kallicharran who scored 110 while Bryan Boodram, batting at number seven was unbeaten on 77 at stumps.

Other useful scores came from Cephas Cooper who made 59 and opener Dejourn Charles who was run out for 51.

Leniko Boucher has so far taken 3-42 with Chemar Holder 1-58 and Dominic Drakes 1-77 the other wicket takers.

At the Sion Hill Playing Field, Windward Islands were dismissed for 109 in their match against the Leeward Islands with Alick Athanaze the top scorer with 39. Opener Anil Matthew supported with 23 while Othneil Lewis with 10 was the only other batsman to reach double figures.

Kofi James 3-20, Daniel Doram 3-21 and Kian Pemberton 3-23 were the main wicket takers while Mrinal Wadwha claimed the other wicket to fall for seven runs.
