Guyana grab four gold medals at C/bean boxing tournament

Moore, fighting in the flyweight (junior) division, defeated Barbadian Rashawn Holder via a first round TKO, much to the chagrin of the partisan crowd. Allicock then rubbed salt into the wound when he pummeled another Barbadian, Stephan Harding into submission in their flyweight (youth) bout. Allicock also won via the TKO route in the opening round.

Clairmont Gibson
Ariel Mounter

Light heavyweight (youth), Mounter kept the gold medal heist going when he gained a unanimous decision over Anguilla’s Curlan Robinson.

In one of the most exciting bouts of Friday evening, Gibson and Barbadian, Ajayi Jones traded punches in bunches but Gibson got the better of Jones who was floored and was able to register a unanimous decision win in their bantamweight brawl.

Joel Williamson, Kevin Allicock, Desmond Amsterdam, Christopher Moore, Colin Lewis and Jason Barker were all hunting gold last night when the curtains came down on the CDBT.

Their results will be published in tomorrow’s edition.
