West Ruimveldt, St Angela’s to meet in Smalta Pee Wee final

West Ruimveldt and St. Angela’s will face-off in the final of the Smalta girls Pee Wee football tournament following semi-final wins over St. Pius and South Ruimveldt respectively yesterday at the Ministry of Education ground.

West Ruimveldt overcame fierce rival St. Pius 1-0 with Shaqwana Wright settling the outcome when she etched her name on the scorer’s sheet in the 15th minute.

On the other hand, St. Angela’s overcame South Ruimveldt 2-1. Nikasie St. Jules and Carletta Ross were on target for the Thomas Street unit in the 18th and 32nd minute respectively while Raven Jacobs scored in the 15th minute for South Ruimveldt.

West Ruimveldt and St. Angela’s will now match skills at the same venue on Saturday in the grand finale while the losing semi-finalists will contest the traditional third place playoff.  Meanwhile, in the 5-8 division, St. Stephen’s squeaked past Enterprise 1-0.

Odelli Straughn found the back of the net in the 26th minute. Continuing in the same section, North Georgetown gained a walkover from St. Agnes.

In the 9-12 playoffs, F.E. Pollard gained a walkover from Tucville while Smith Memorial brushed aside Winfer Gardens 3-0. Aliyah Beverney scored in the ninth and 24th minute whilst Tranisha McPherson netted in the second minute. In the 13-16 playoffs, Redeemer gained a walkover from Stella Maris while the match between St. Margaret’s and St. Gabriel’s was ruled a no-contest as both teams failed to take the playing area.
