Guyana to be represented at Mrs India Worldwide

Guyana will send its first ever representative to the Mrs India Worldwide Pageant, slated for October 3 to 9 in New Jersey, USA.

This is according to a press release from the Miss India Guyana Organisation, which launched the Mrs India Guyana Pageant on August 15.

Because time is limited, the release said, there will be no auditions or open applications this year.  However, next year there will be a pageant competition for the title.

The Mrs India Guyana Pageant, under the leadership of the Miss India Guyana Organisation is open to Guyanese beauties of Indian origin, married with or without children, to ultimately compete in the Mrs India Worldwide pageant.

For this year, Creative/Pageant Director Derek Moore will assist the Miss India Guyana directorship in selecting a well-rounded married woman to represent Guyana at Mrs India Worldwide pageant 2016.

The release said that the format for this franchise will see scores being awarded in three segments: Indian wear, Evening wear and Question and Answer. The Mrs India Guyana pageant format does not include a talent segment. The local representative will be announced at a later date, after the auditions are completed for the Miss India Guyana 2016.

Both the Miss and Mrs India Guyana 2016 will be crowned at a coronation ceremony to be held on conclusion of Miss India Guyana auditions, in early September. The Mrs India Guyana 2016 will also be given a full make-up class package sponsored by Flawless, Tenisha Garnett, and a full photo-shoot session by John Greene Photography. In addition, she will be afforded a genuine handmade, Austrian Swarovski crystal, gold plated crown marking Guyana’s 50th Anniversary.

The release added that the representative will have the opportunity to participate in an international Indian pageant amongst 20 participating countries around the world, which will ensure that our competitors will not only walk away with an experience of a lifetime but as well-rounded women with the tools to pursue their life’s goals and dreams, which were possibly not achieved at a younger age.

According to the release, the Mrs India Worldwide is organised by the Indian Festival Committee (IFC) in New York, which also hosts the Miss India Worldwide Pageant. This year will not only see the first Mrs India Guyana but will also mark the first Mrs India Worldwide by the IFC to commemorate its silver jubilee. Both pageants will be held simultaneously.
