Bartica miner held with pistol

A resident of Mongripper Hill, Bartica, Region Seven, was on Thursday afternoon arrested and taken into custody for unlawful possession of firearm and ammunition.

Police, in a statement issued yesterday, said that ranks, acting on information, went to Honey Camp Backdam, Middle Mazaruni at about 5pm and conducted a search on the Mongripper Hill resident. The man, a 34-year-old miner, was found with an unlicensed .32-calibre pistol with two live matching rounds.
