A 23 year old maintenance worker of Alpha Hotel, Ogle, East Coast Demerara and of Manchester Village, Corentyne, Berbice is nursing a wound after being shot about 06:50hrs this morning at his place of employment.
Enquiries, police say, disclosed that the victim, Brandon Collins, was clearing vines from the hotel’s fence when he was asked to remove by the owner of a house that separates the two lots, which he ignored.
The suspect, a 69 year old female who is the licensed holder of a small calibre weapon, allegedly armed herself with her firearm and discharged a round at the victim which struck him in the abdomen, police say.
He was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where he was admitted in a stable condition. The suspect has since been taken into custody and her firearm lodged. She is assisting with the investigation.
