Brazilian father and son robbed at gunpoint on Irving Street

Two Brazilians were robbed at gunpoint on Monday afternoon on Irving Street, Georgetown of an undisclosed amount of cash and jewellery.

According to reports, the Brazilians, a father and son, had left a gold dealer and were in a vehicle making their way to the Fulton Court apartment complex, when three men armed with guns pounced on them. It is believed that the bandits may have trailed the duo as they travelled home.

According to police, as the father and son were about to enter the yard, the car pulled up next to them. The police said the son had already exited the vehicle and his father was greeted with a gun to his face as the men made their demands.

Stabroek News understands that one of the bandits snatched a bag and the gold chain the father was wearing and escaped. One of the bandits reportedly went to the son and also snatched his gold chain before they made a good escape.

A shot was fired during the robbery, a police source said, but no one was injured.
