St Joseph High School fifth former Precious Barrow emerged the winner of the Ministry of Public Health’s visual arts competition held in commemoration of Vaccination Week.

Barrow related that her artwork depicted children across the world uniting for Vaccination Week. “I put the world shaped as a heart because it represents the love that we have for our children, and that love is being displayed through immunizing them,” she explained.

The visual arts competition was open to students aged 6 to 16 in three categories, but it was stated that submissions were only received for the 7 to 10 and 14 to 16 categories. Participants were required to draw a poster depicting the theme and provide an accompanying description of what it represented.

Barrow placed first in the 14 to 16 age group, while Donlee Costello of Queen’s College was selected as the runner-up. The winner in the 7-10 division was Anmarie Goberdhan, with Dinesh Shivgobin and Tameshwar Singh, in second and third place, respectively

First place winners were the recipients of tablets and school supplies, while the second and third placed winners received school supplies.
