Third suspect being sought in Roy Roland murder

Police are hunting for a third suspect in the murder of Roy Roland who was discovered dead in Roxanne Burnham Gardens with a gunshot wound to the back of his head on Wednesday.

Roland known as `Gangster Roy’ of Lot 25 Castello Housing Scheme, La Penitence, Georgetown was discovered dead around 6:30 am  on the eastern parapet of Marigold Street.

Police Commander of A Division Marlon Chapman told Stabroek News yesterday that currently two persons are in custody and they are searching for a third based on information received.

Chapman went on to say that investigators are exploring all possible leads and working to capture the third suspect who they believe can aid in the investigations.

It is believed that Roland’s killers may have dumped his body from a vehicle.

The family learnt of Roland’s death after someone visited their home early in the morning informing them of the discovery. As a result, the dead man’s father and several other relatives travelled to the scene where they positively identified him.

Persons in the area recalled hearing what they believed to be the sound of a gunshot shortly after midnight.

Relatives said that based on what they were told Roland was shot and dumped from a vehicle.
