The other two children are their cousins, DeJohn Fields and Denali Fields. They were all admitted in a stable condition nursing injuries including broken bones.

At the time of the accident which occurred around 8:35pm, the children were all passengers of motorcar, PPP 291 driven by their mother, Lavern Corbin, a rural constable attached to the Anna Regina Police station.

Two other adults, said to be Lavern’s aunts were also in the vehicle. They sustained minor injuries.

Lavern explained to Stabroek News that she was proceeding on  Waterloo Street heading to Lamaha Street when the driver of a Toyota Tundra pick-up who was waiting to turn into Middle Street reportedly lost control and collided with her car. Due to the impact, the car spun around before coming to a halt, she said.

The driver of the Tundra was allegedly proceeding at a fast rate. Lavern said that he also failed to render any assistance. ‘I came out asked him if he’s not going to render any assistance to us and he said right now he can’t move because he was on his phone”, she said.

He was taken into custody. Investigations are ongoing.

According to Lavern, she had just picked up her two aunts and the Fieldses from the bus park and was heading to drop them off at Non-Pariel, East Coast Demerara when the accident occurred.
