WICB should pay damages to Bravo

Dear Editor,

The new CEO of the WICB says “I am scratching my head at this point wondering what more we can do”. Why is Mr Johnny Grave scratching his head? Mr Grave said he believed President Dave Cameron`s willingness to acknowledge he was wrong  to suggest Darren Bravo had ever received a Grade A contract from the WICB in consideration for an apology from Bravo for describing the president as a “big idiot’’ was enough to resolve the dispute.

Well think about this: The president of the WICB did not know what category of contract his best batsman had, demoted him from the wrong category, and cannot understand why Bravo would be so angry as to lose control of himself and call the president names?

There were serious financial consequences for the exclusion of Bravo from the West Indies team that flowed directly from Mr Cameron`s ignorance and insensitivity. Bravo ought to be compensated for the damages he has sustained.

Those damages flow naturally from Cameron`s conduct. Mr Grave need not scratch his head. The WICB should simply pay Bravo the damages incurred ,and reinstate him in the West Indies squad.

The WICB must stop abusing players, whether because of ignorance or just plain nastiness.

Yours faithfully,

Romain Pitt
