Open, U23 leagues to jumpstart GABA season

President of the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) Junior Hercules said the association will commence its calendar of activities with the Open and U23 Leagues on January 25th at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

Hercules during a brief comment said:“I expect it to be extremely competitive being it is the first tournament of the year. You have a lot of experience coming into the tournament, almost 80 per cent of the national players will be playing in this tournament at both levels.”

In the Open division, eight teams will be divided into two groups. Ravens, Guardians, Sonics and Nets will comprise group-A while Pacesetters, Colts, University of Guyana (UG) Trojans and Eagles will feature in group-B.

Upon the conclusion of the round=robin stage, the top two finishers in the each zone will advance to the elimination round.

On the other hand, each team will play the other once in the u23 section, which comprises of six clubs. They are Guardians, Eagles, Trojans, Ravens, Pacesetters and Colts. The tourney is programmed to conclude  February 22nd.
