Star Party Rentals support for Petra/Limacol football tournament

Support for the second annual Petra Organization/ Limacol Football Champ-ionship continued yesterday as Star Party Rentals donated an undisclosed sum at a simple presentation ceremony staged at their Craig Street, Campbellville location.

Michelle Henry, representative of Star Party Rentals, during the feature address said: “We are pleased once again to partner with Petra to host the event. We have, over the years, constantly supported Petra with many football tournaments by providing our unique service which ensures that the organising is successful.

“We would like to thank Petra for the opportunity to continue our social responsibility. The owner of Star Party Rentals who has been a part of sports is pleased to be associated with tournament.”

Mark Alleyne, Petra representative said: “We at Petra are happy for the support of the event and we recognize that this company has supported us over the years. Without the support, we would not be successful.

“We want to take this opportunity to thank the company for coming onboard and we’re looking forward to great tournament,” he added.

The event will be contested initially in a round-robin format with the top two finishers progressing to the quarterfinal round.

Group-A consists of Milerock, Winners Connection, Grove Hi-Tech and Northern Rangers whilst group-B features Western Tigers, Uitvlugt, Eagles and NA United.

Group-C comprises Santos, Pouderoyen, Den Amstel and Ann’s Grove while group-D contains Guyana Police Force (GPF), Riddim Squad, Camptown and Mahaica Determinators.

The tournament will officially kickoff tomorrow at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground, Bourda with a group-D doubleheader with GPF battling Mahaica Determinators and Riddim Squad tackling Camptown.

It will resume January 27th with Western Tigers engaging NA United in a group-B affair and Santos opposing Ann’s Grove in a group-C encounter at the GFC ground.

The following day the event will move to the Mackenzie Sports Club (MSC) ground in Linden with Milerock battling Northern Rangers and Winners Connection facing off with Grove Hi-Tech in group-A.

The final matches of round one on January 29th will pit Uitvlugt against Eagles United in group-B and Pouderoyen against Den Amstel in group-C at a venue to be announced.

The winner of each group will receive $100,000 while the respective finishers will pocket $50,000, $30,000 and $20,000 apiece.

Winner of the event will pocket $500,000 and a trophy while the second, third and fourth placed teams will receive $250,000, $125,000 and $75,000 respectively and the corresponding accolade.
