Petra presents gear to participating schools

The tournament coordinators, the Petra Organization presented the competing schools yesterday with the official fixtures and a football ahead of the start of 5th Annual Milo U18 Football Championship.In attendance at the presentation were teachers and students of the participating schools as well as members of the Petra Organization and Ministry of Health representatives Dr. Troy Sagan and Joy Gravesande.

Each school received one football, water bottles and a jersey. The confirmed participants are Bishop’s High, Brickdam, Carmel, Central High, Charlestown, two time defending champions Chase Academy, Christ Church, Cummings Lodge, Dolphin, East Ruimveldt, Freeburg, Houston, Kingston, Lodge, Mae’s, Morgan’s Learning Centre, North Georgetown, North Ruimveldt, Queen’s College, Queenstown, Richard Ishmael, School of the Nations, Sir Leon Lessons, South Ruimveldt, St. John’s, St. Joseph’s, St. Winfried, St. Rose’s, St. George’s, St. Mary’s, Tucville, and Tutorial.

schools need to vigilant and honest with regards to the eligibility of players during the event.

Meanwhile, Dr. Sagan of the Chronic Disease Unit during brief remarks said “The ministry is pleased to be part of this event and we stress for the need to stand against violence in any shape and form”.

He added that the ministry has commissioned programs to try and help decrease the level of violence prevalent in the nation, noting that the tourney is been used to as a vehicle to sensitize the public on the issue.
