Colts gets better of Ravens in Open, U23 divisions

Colts took a 1-0 lead in the best of three final of the Open and U23 divisions respectively, defeating Ravens in both divisions when the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) ‘League of Champions’ continued Saturday.

Colts defeated Ravens 66-55 in the senior division at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Homestretch Avenue. Shelroy Thomas scored 18 points and grabbed six rebounds in the win, while Shane Webster scored 13 points and pulled down five rebounds.

Stanton Rose assisted with nine points while Dave Causway scored eight points and grabbed the same number of rebounds.

Jermaine Slater netted eight points.

For Ravens, Ryan Stephney netted 16 points while Dominic Vicente scored 12 points and grabbed six rebounds.

Lawrence DaCosta added nine points and Carlos Edwards, six points.

Ravens took an early lead in the contest leading 4-11 after the first quarter.

They maintained the advantage at halftime leading 29-24.

However, the contest was a game of two halves and Colts commenced the comeback in the third period, outscoring Ravens 16-15 to enter the final period only four points behind at (44-40).

Colt completed the comeback by scoring 26 points and restricting Ravens to 11 points in the final period.

Meanwhile, Colts completed the perfect evening as they downed Ravens once again in the U23 section 58-45. Mikhail Broomes top scored with 15 points while Timothy Thompson fashioned a double-double of 10 points and 14 rebounds.

Chipping in with nine points and eight rebounds was Jafar Gibbons. For Ravens, Murtland Ward netted 16 points and polled in   12 rebounds while Sebastian Luke scored eight points and grabbed five rebounds. The event resumes today at the same venue with the third place playoff.
