Bishops’ High win and lose at YBG Challenge Series

The Bishops’ High and Mackenzie High Schools along with the Linden Technical Institute, won titles when Youth Basketball Guyana staged its annual Fives Challenge Series recently.

Staged at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Bishops’ High School defeated New Amsterdam Multilateral to clinch the girls U16 title with Keshan Charles of Bishops’ High adjudged the division’s Most Valuable Player (MVP).

However Bishops’ High School U16 boys’ team lost to Mackenzie High School in the final.

Yonnick Tappin of MHS was adjudged the MVP.

In the U19 section, Linden Technical Institute downed Plaisance Secondary for the title. LTI’s George Yearwood was named the MVP.

According to a release from the organisers, the one-day event sponsored by the National Sports Commission (NSC), Banks DIH Limited and Digicel, attracted some 37 teams.
