GOA names team for Islamic Solidarity Games

The Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) will send male and female teams to the third annual Islamic Solidarity Games it was announced yesterday.

The male team will be led by national champion Christopher Franklin and the female team by Trenace Lowe.

The table tennis players are part of an 18-member delegation announced by the Guyana Olympic Association to participate at the games which takes place

In Baku, Azerbaijan from May 12-22.

Guyana will also be represented by four athletes, two swimmers, two judokas and two taekwondo competitors.

Ramjeet Ramphal, coach of the taekwondo team, will serve as chef-de-mission.

 

Lowe will be joined by overseas-based Chelsea Edghill and Natalie Cummings while Nigel Bryan and Joel Alleyne will join Franklin on the men’s team.

The coach is Idi Lewis.

Winston George, Alita Moore, Natrena Hooper and Emmanuel Archibald are the track and field athletes, Desmond Amsterdam and Joel Williamson, the boxers, Joshua Buchanan and Erskine Trotman, the judokas, Earlando McRae and Andrew Fowler, the swimmers and Adrian Spellen and Jibreel Malik, the taekwondo athletes.
