Berbice brush aside President’s XI

- starts 2017 GCB/Dave West Indian Imports U15 Inter-county competition in commanding fashion

A Berbice Under-15 team defeated the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB)/President’s XI by 147 runs at the Georgetown Cricket Club Ground (GCC), Bourda, yesterday, to start the GCB/Dave West Indian Imports U15 Inter-County competition in commanding fashion.

The match, which was reduced to 48 overs-per-side due to a wet outfield, saw Berbice reaching 196 for 9 from their allotted overs after being sent in.

Marvin Prashad made 67 in an innings that included two fours and one six. He received support from Daniel Dharamdat who made 44 with three fours. The two added 120 runs for the third wicket to propel last year’s runners-up to their eventual total.

Off-spinner Raynaldo Mohamed took 4-36 from nine overs for the President’s XI, who, in reply, were bundled out for 49 in 31. 5 overs.

Left-arm orthodox spinner Hemraj Harrilall, had the impressive figures of 4-5 from 10 overs, five of which were maidens while off-spinner Abdul Ramsammy took 3-8 from his 10 overs, five of which were maidens also.

Prashad was named Man-of-the-Match for his knock of 67.

The competition continues today at the Enmore Community Development Centre ground with Demerara facing Berbice while Essequibo will take on the President’s XI at the Everest Cricket Club Ground from 9:30 hours.
