‘Smells like death’: Peru oil spill clear-up drags on as fishermen count cost

LIMA,  (Reuters) – Spanish energy firm Repsol said yesterday a clear-up operation for a major oil spill on the coast near Peru’s capital Lima would take until the end of February, in an environmental incident declared a ‘catastrophe’ by the government.

Enmore road not built to contracted standard

Following complaints to the Ministry of Public Works about holes in a road at Enmore, East Coast Demerara, Minister within the Ministry Deodat Indar visited the area where he discovered that the road was not completed to the required standard.

Closed-door tripartite discussions among Guyana’s President Irfaan Ali,  President of  Suriname, Chandrikapersad Santokhi, and the President of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, in Paramaribo yesterday will be advanced at the ministerial level in the coming months, the Office of the President said.
