Contract signed for work on Diamond well – sources

The Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) has signed a contract with a local company to repair the Diamond well where a broken casing has caused woes for residents of the Diamond Housing Scheme and Kaneville on the East Bank of Demerara.

Miners missing in Omai backdam found

Three miners who were missing since Sunday were found yesterday. Anthony Van Sertima, 44 and Gavin Van Sertima, 20, of Buxton and Keastan Lewis, of South Vigilance, East Coast Demerara had reportedly gone into the Omai Backdam on Sunday in a bid to locate mining land and had gotten lost.

US$3M pact signed for Cunha Canal rehab

The Guyana Government on Wednesday signed a US$3M agreement to rehabilitate the Cunha Canal, a key drainage mechanism on the East Bank of Demerara which has been operating significantly under capacity.

Lord Canary biography launched
