Dozens show support for pride parade

Dozens of members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community and their supporters yesterday took to the streets of Georgetown for the 2022 pride parade. 

Sterling Products workers to get pay hikes

Employees of Sterling Products Limited (SPL) are due to see a 7% increase in their wages for this year and an 8% increase for next year, across-the-board, after the company concluded a two-year agreement with the Clerical and Commercial Workers’ Union (CCWU).

Judge frees man who was on remand for nine years without trial

Having determined that a man, who was on remand for more than nine years, had his fundamental rights under Article 144 (1) of the Constitution violated, Justice Sandil Kissoon yesterday ordered that criminal matters against him be stayed permanently and that he be released forthwith from the custody of the Guyana Prison Service.

Time for gov’t to decriminalise same-sex intimacy – SASOD

With members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) community and their allies expected to take to the streets of Georgetown today for a pride parade, the Society Against Sexual Orientation Discrimination (SASOD) is urging the government to make tangible steps towards the decriminalisation of same-sex intimacy in Guyana.
