Dear Editor, We write this letter from the perspective of concerned youths about the alarming rates of domestic violence in our nation, but more specifically in Zeelugt, especially because it sometimes translates into violent ends for the victims.

Dear Editor, I had commented shortly after the 2006 election, in a letter captioned the ABC of politics, on Ms Gomatie Singh’s lament that the leadership of the AFC did not keep faith with her when they denied her a seat in parliament.

Dear Editor, As an elderly person, it seems that our society suffers from intransigence in dealing with serious social issues.

Dear Editor, September 14, 2013 will make three years since the brutal slaying of Sheema Mangar who was employed at the time of her death at the Demerara Bank Ltd.

Dear Editor, According to Stabroek News of Monday, September 9, Trinidad’s Finance Minister Mr Howai indicated that the government is moving ahead to enable the cultivation of, first, 10,000 acres and later, 90,000 acres in Berbice.

Dear Editor, The GPL authorities need to understand that many persons work all week and most times the only day they have to do household chores is Sunday, in addition to which not everyone is equipped with tanks for the storage of water. 

Dear Editor, It would be churlish of me not to congratulate Ruel Johnson on his Guyana Prize for Best Book of Fiction which he so kindly signed for me in the Oasis cafe a week back.

Dear Editor, I write in response to the letter by the Honourable Prime Minister (`The Guyana Energy Agency is being reasonably well run published in SN of September 14, 2013’), which he said was written out of ”a need and a duty to set the record straight, [and] dispel any erroneous concerns and doubts” created about the Guyana Energy Agency (GEA).

Dear Editor, Former Chief Justice and Chancellor of the Judiciary Desiree Bernard, was not disturbed or annoyed when the late Janet Jagan tossed the court order preventing her from being sworn in as president over her shoulder ‒ a move which was widely criticized by the opposition and the media.

Dear Editor, An opinion survey conducted in early August by the North American Caribbean Teachers Association (NACTA) found that the ruling PPP/C leads the opposition in voter support in the event early elections are called to resolve the parliamentary impasse brought about by the November 2011 general elections when the combined opposition emerged with a one seat majority.
