SVN has made supporters of school proud

Dear Editor, Saraswati Vidya Niketan (SVN) 2012 CSEC results have once again made us all proud as supporters of this unique Hindu secondary school, which welcomes teachers and students from other religious persuasions.

Dear Editor, In his response ‘An Obama defeat cannot be ruled out but is highly unlikely’ (SN, Sep 2) to my letter (SN, Aug 31), Mr Wesley Kirton queried firstly, where did I get my information from, suggesting that an overwhelming majority of Guyanese and Caribbean people are Democrats and that not many watched the Republican convention; and secondly, on what basis I made the claim that Guyanese-Americans (and others) were disappointed with Obama’s education policies.

The Republican Party now embraces minorities and women

Dear Editor, As a student of American politics, after watching the Republican Convention on TV and reading about it in the print media, one can’t help but notice how much (in physical outlook) the Republican Party (RP) has changed from just a couple decades ago with the party going all out to embrace ethnic minorities and women.
