Letters to the Editor

Ms Mottley’s intervention was judicious and welcome

Dear Editor, Every government, organization or person who has publicly condemned the flagrant, vulgar and incessant attempts by the rigging cabal and their acolytes to perpetrate fraud at the 2nd March 2020 elections held in Guyana and to attempt to defeat the will of the electorate and steal the new Government, has been met with public vitriolic abuse and vilification.

This could well be the PNC’s last hurrah

Dear Editor, Over the past months, the words “evil” and wicked” have surfaced as descriptions of the acts of fraud being attempted by the PNC and its co-conspirators in the ongoing post-election crisis.

Prime Minister Mottley has spoken out of turn

Dear Editor, It is disappointing that none other than the sitting head of CARICOM, a Queen’s Counsel in law, choses to make comments sub judice even as the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) is yet to hear a case brought before it on the recent election.

GECOM must urgently declare the winner using recount result

Dear Editor, The Indian Action Committee (IAC) continues to be shocked and outraged at the indecent and illegal actions of the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) CEO Keith Lowenfield in producing tabulations that keep changing and are, thus, fraudulent being not in keeping with the recently concluded recount supervised by CARICOM.

GAWU heartened by this clarification from the NIS

Dear Editor, The GAWU refers to an article titled `NIS denies cutting benefits to sugar workers’ which appeared in the June 21, 2020 Stabroek News wherein the NIS’ Public Relations Officer (PRO) , Ms Dianne Lewis has clarified that the Scheme hasn’t suspended benefits to sugar workers from the beginning of this year.

I was simply seeking clarifications from Mr Gaskin

Dear Editor, This response is to acknowledge Comrade Dominic Gaskin’s reply to my letter published in Stabroek News June 21, 2020 edition under the caption, `Can Mr Gaskin explain what constitutes a seriously rigged election’ and to assure him that my intention was not “polemical”, but simply seeking clarification on the issues I raised by way of questions.
