Letters to the Editor

Gandhian greeting

Dear Editor, It is interesting to see how the current ‘Corona Virus’ is encouraging people to use the ‘Gandhian’ clasped hand in prayerful greetings of one another instead of the usual handshake.

COVID-19 heightens risk of sexual and gender-based violence

Dear Editor, Worldwide measures to prevent, protect against and respond to COVID-19, including social isolation, school closure, reduced hours/days at workplaces, are resulting in lack of employment, reduced money for households, especially poor and vulnerable ones, increased stress and tension and increased reports of all forms of gender-based violence, exploitation and child abuse.

Vital that Guyana does not return to the turbulent times

Dear Editor, In this unsettling and turbulent time in Guyana, we are witnessing  a terrible conflict that we have never seen before in our history, and with the greatest of care,  this must be resolved as quickly as possible for the safety, security and well-being of all Guyanese.

Cabal of six influencing Granger

Dear Editor, Mia Mottley, the Chair of Caricom said on withdrawing her elections experts from Guyana on Tuesday night: “It is clear that there are forces that do not want to see the votes recounted for whatever reason”.

Granger fails as a person of reputable leadership

Dear Editor, For decades upon decades, most Guyanese wished and prayed for a good life, a simple life, a life with a living wage to support their families, a life of peace – to enjoy the blessings of a land full of so many beauties, pleasantries, goodness among the ordinary peoples, and of extraordinary potentialities (not including oil).
