Dear Editor, Those against the parking meter contract have argued, rightly so it appears, that the contract was awarded by the Mayor virtually single-handedly in breach of procurement legislation and protocols.

Dear Editor, Reference is made to the March 21 Demerara Waves story titled, ‘Gecom chairman must not be an activist or associated with any political party -Granger.’ 

Dear Editor, I’ve recently learned that a group of ‘hate’ preachers was allowed close access to students at Queen’s College and other city schools, according to videos the preachers posted on their Youtube channel.

Dear Editor, I wish to thank Stabroek News for its editorial of March 21 addressing the issue of senior staff abusing subordinates in the presence of other juniors.

Dear Editor, My attention was drawn to a letter to the editor that appeared in your newspaper on Saturday,  March 18 concerning Berbice cricket.

Dear Editor, With reference to your several news items on the Cabinet and Minister Bulkan suspending the parking meter bylaws and the clamping of vehicles (SN, March 20, 21, 22), it is my view the central government is usurping the power of the local government Georgetown City Council and in so doing has set a precedent to emaciate all locally elected bodies.

Dear Editor, There are those who would argue that some of the parties concerned might not have been totally honest with themselves.

Dear Editor, The decision taken by the Georgetown City Council to delay the implementation of the parking meter suspension as directed by Minister Bulkan is nothing short of an act of defiance against President Granger and his Cabinet.

Dear Editor, I would like to offer my commendation to the Minister of Public Infrastructure and the Cabinet for the soon to be constructed pedestrian overpasses on the East Bank Public Road.

Dear Editor, I applaud Sunday Stabroek (Mar 19) for its well written and most apt editorial on the centenary of the ending of indentured labour from India.
