Kenya’s Haiti mission in limbo as urgency grows

NAIROBI,  (Reuters) – Kenya has said its police officers will soon be in Haiti to confront rampaging gangs controlling the capital, but worsening insecurity and uncertainty about financing are casting doubt on the mission’s prospects.

Haitian PM tenders resignation after Jamaica talks

PORT-AU-PRINCE/KINGSTON, Jamaica, (Reuters) – Haiti’s unelected prime minister, Ariel Henry, will step down once a transition council and temporary replacement have been appointed, he said yesterday, after leading the Caribbean country since the 2021 assassination of its last president.

Haiti extends state of emergency as PM absent

PORT-AU-PRINCE,  (Reuters) – Haiti’s government today said it would extend a state of emergency in its Ouest Department, the seat of the capital Port-au-Prince, for another month after an escalation in violence from gangs seeking to oust the prime minister while he remains abroad.
