Can’t think about Carifesta in the current circumstances
Dear Editor,
Every time I hear the advertisement ‘Carifesta is coming, Guyana is hosting, the world is watching,’ I get the impression I/we are being laughed at. It is as if some members of one family are crying and mourning the violent death of some in the family and some others in the said family are preparing for a grand celebration.
For this year we have had three mass murders – Lusignan, Bartica and Lindo Creek – we have had business people being murdered, the most recent person being Akbar Alli.
How can I as a patriotic Guyanese set my mind on Carifesta when I am in continuous mourning?
Yours faithfully,
WP George
