Dr Ashni Singh should throw his hat into the ring
Dear Editor,
Further to my first letter dated July 11 in SN, I have now witnessed the first original response to my suggestion of ‘Dr Ashni Singh for President.’ Thank you to Abel Peters for supporting my call, and I sincerely hope that many others can come on board with my suggestion, including Dr Singh himself.
I would like to make a sincere appeal to the leadership of the PPP/C, the Parliament and the Guyanese populace to support my call for a leader who possesses beyond a shadow of a doubt the credentials which I humbly believe can and will take Guyana truly forward. Granted that the PPP have to make some adjustments to their internal constitution to support such a call, I hope that they can make it happen, if they really want to.
Dr Ashni Singh, I am sure there are many like me who will support you and I would like you to throw your hat into the ring for consideration at the upcoming congress! In fact, I would prefer that the executive leadership of the PPP/C seek your consent for your participation at the next congress.
Yours faithfully,
B. Singh

Irreverend
on July 22nd, 2008 10:58 amUpon second thought Ashni deserve serious consideration.
He young
He healthy, but should lose some of that weight, exercise man , we want you to live long. He might be the Mandela in disguise we all looking for.
He get one real PhD from one real university
He one real intellectual
He know he stuff
He mind sharp sharp like razor, never mind he baby-looking face and the diffident manner.
He get steel in his backbone and he hate corruption no matter who it come from
He love the country more than he love the party (but he love the party)
He going to make the right decision when the time come and don’t care where the chips fall.
He can take off that suit and shoes and wade into the canefield and ricefield mud and ground with the brothers and eat he dhal and rice with he bare hand. We love a grassroots man with brains in his head.
He is Jagan, Gandhi, Mandela, and Martin Luther King rolled up in without too much of the bad stuff. ASHNI IS THE MAN!

shocked
In reply to the above comment on July 23rd, 2008 10:35 am:Good thoughts Irreverend. Especially the one about a real PhD from a real university. I must say that at first I liked Dr. Singh, but have been very disappointed with him siding with this government. Especially with the Sanata Texile Mill fiasco and the VAT. Before I support him, I would want to hear him distance himself from the unethical things the PPP do and do something to correct them.
