Amin’s gas station robbed

Bandits robbed Amin’s Gas Station, Regent and King streets on Monday night of a quantity of cash.

According to police press release, at approximately 11 pm on Monday the pump attendant and the supermarket cashier were attacked and robbed by two men, one of whom was armed with a handgun, of $15,000.

The cashier, Mea Murray, 32, and pump attendant Morris Hinds, 18, were on duty when the men approached and held them at gunpoint.

One of the men, the release said, took the cashier into the supermarket and emptied the cash register of $10,000 while the other man relieved the pump attendant of $5,000. The men then escaped.

We need to install CCTV’s on ALL such facilities (banks, supermarkets, gas stations etc) We need also to provide them with an emergency power supply in the events of blackouts & make the GPL replace them once it’s proven that their irregular & underregulated electricity supplies damage. I have lost quite a few pieces of computer hardware to GPL nevertheless there can be no real price placed on ensuring your business is safe & secure.

seems lots of handguns ARE available on the streets of guyana, lots of robberies are happening and the situation SEEMS TO BE getting worst i hereby suggest to the minister of home affairs clement rohee, for the benifit of guyanese, could you sir, supply the police with vehicles to patrol the city and it’s environs on a daily basis, i suggest 4 vehicles, two would be used during the day time and the other two during night time, one vehicle should be patroling eastern g/town and the other west and southern g/town the same should apply for the night patrols.i would be gratful sould my suggestion given some consideration.

  Tiger —it is a good suggestion –BUT (1) Guyana does not have enought vehicles to partol the city and its enviorns (2) The Police say that they have better things to do (like sleeping , partying , stopping motorists for bribes ) , (3) –the criminals are hig tech now equipped with 2 way radios , laptops , cell phones to alert when cops are partolling on their turf ( eg Buxton , Agricola ) . (4) the police are not interested in catching criminals if there is not “something ” in for them and the lists goes on —. Great suggestion but it would have worked in the 60’s .

Guyana seems to be the WILD, WILD, WEST, I cannot understand why they have a J.S. department because it is a waste of time, they are not doing their work. The police needs to be patrolling the streets in their vehicles and on foot during the day and night so that Guyana can be a safe place to walk, do business, visit, live and everything else. Or may be the poice are the ones that are committing these crimes, straight up.

All gas stations should be equipped with a debit card swipe to prevent this type of nonsense.

Citizens doing business know Guyana is a criminal haven.The police are out numbered.People also need to be more vigilant,and not depend upon the police, but to use their own resources to stop crime.All business place should have security,and a rapid response system to catch criminals.
