The building, located on the Parika Highway, will offer customers over 5000 square feet of shopping space and represents a 70% increase over the previous store’s space, Courts Country Manager, Lester Alvis said.

The store will be managed by Pamela Humphrey, who told a small gathering at the opening ceremony that the company is committed to giving back to the community. Region Three, Vice-Chairman, Manpersaud commended the company for establishing the new branch there noting that Courts has made an impact on many people lives and made them “happy owners” of appliances.

He called on other businesses to set up branches at Parika stating that it is slated to become a town and has tremendous potential for investment and returns.

He noted that employment was created for locals and stressed that in the midst of a global financial crisis there are “new waves of investment in Guyana” and asserted that this was so because of the prudent management of the economy by President Bharrat Jagdeo.

The new building, located opposite the old building is the ninth Courts store in the country and will employ about 12 persons, Courts Finance Director, Steve Nauth said.
