Sisters road-block chase

Trio committed to stand trial for armed robbery

At the conclusion of the preliminary inquiry at the New Amsterdam (NA) Court last week, Principal Magistrate Krishndat Persaud committed three men to stand trial for a robbery under arms charge from June, 2007.

The men Nigel Henry, called `Zip’, 32 of Asylum St, NA, Jermaine Samuels, 36, and taxi driver Kwesi `Big Worm’ Samuels, 31, of 30 Cummingsville Housing Scheme, NA were charged with robbing Sandy Wilson at Ma Retraite, East Bank Berbice on June 23, 2007.
Police Chief Prosecutor, ‘B’ Division, Inspector Fazil Karimbaksh had told the court that on the day in question the victim was in his house when he was “aroused by the breaking of his door and the shattering of his glass window.”

He said after the men entered they proceeded to chop Wilson on his head and also fired several shots in the house before relieving him of $35,000.

The police had set up a road-block at Sisters Village, East Bank Berbice but the bandits drove past the barricade and escaped at top speed.

The officers gave chase and caught up with the car after it crashed into a lamp post along the roadway.

The men evaded capture by hiding among some bushes but the next day the police continued their hunt and the men were all arrested.

The men were represented by attorneys-at-law, Mursalene Bacchus, John Persaud and James Bond.

Ok .this is a good reason to lock these fools up and refuse bail. Not a working man with lil weed .

From all appearances,this seems to be good police work,so far.Next stage is the High Court.Will be keeping an eye on the outcome.
