West Ruimveldt man remanded on rape charge

A twenty-two-year-old West Ruimveldt man who allegedly raped a woman was remanded to prison on Tuesday when he appeared before Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

Kwesi Jones of 468 West Ruimveldt Housing Scheme, who allegedly raped a 22-year-old woman at his home, was not required to plead to the indictable charge.

It is alleged that on October 2, Jones forced the woman into the house while she was waiting outside for one of his relatives and he raped her after threatening her with a knife.

The woman later escaped and reported the incident at the police station. Jones was subsequently arrested and kept in police custody since then.

The prosecution objected to bail.
Magistrate Robertson then ordered that Jones be remanded to prison until October 15.

    You’ve branded him as an Animal Plague and rapist already. He was charged for ALLEGEDLY raping the 22 year old woman. What happen to until proven guilty?

    Sr billp;
    I’ve branded the “4 cases of rape this week” alone as Animal Plague.
    Without sufficient evidence he would not have been charged indictable.

    ray and Billip —–we have heard that line before —–this young man should be tried and once found guilty –should be given the maximun penalty ——they are scourges to society . They are “sick ” individuals . Ray –you need to hire a good lawyer —or else you may never see your friend for a long time .

    What is it with this ‘rape’ business here recently? Is it really happening this way or are the laws being manipulated for people’s vendettas as one blogger here suggests.
    We never get the full facts here as Law enforcement gets during their investigations so sometimes we are prone to making erroneous judgements. Nonetheless - whenever these charges are proven then the penalties should befit the crimes!

    How can women escape this when you got men like Teacher Leon Jameson Suseran saying that women invites rape and sexual abuse ” coz of the way they are dressed “….Imagine this rubbish garbage came from a man who is a Teacher……Women must be allowed to dress and walk freely in any society…Men just dont get it….And if men dont get this…Then when they rape and or molest women and girls the justice system should ensure that MEN GET IT……
