Youth granted bail on copper wire theft charge

An 18-year-old man who allegedly stole $200,000 worth of copper wire was granted bail when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

Akeem Andrews of South Cummingsburg pleaded not guilty to the charge of simple larceny when Principal Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle read it to him.  It is alleged that on July 3, Andrews stole six bags of copper wire, property of BK International.

The accused told the court that he was swimming with 14 other people at the koker when the police picked him up. According to him, the police officer pointed a gun at him. “He left everyone else and pick me out,” Andrews said.

According to reports, security guards saw the accused with six others running with the bags of wire. Four of the bags were found hidden in nearby bushes and Andrews had two in his possession at the time.

He was placed on $30,000 bail and the matter was transferred to Court Two for July 28.

Considering that the Police have a credibility problem, I am more inclined to believe the accused version of events.

yeah, while we are at it do away with the courts and all law enforcement agencies. Remember, all the inhabitants of all the jails around the world say they are innocent.
