Early reports from T&T sleuths back police theory -Greene

Commissioner of Police (ag) Henry Greene yesterday said that two preliminary reports from the three Trinidadian forensic investigators who visited Guyana earlier this month to assist in the Lindo Creek massacre probe, support their “theory and support their position in terms of what happened”.

Henry Green

The police have said that ballistics tests on the spent shells discovered at the scene found that they match one of the weapons that was recovered by the security forces from Cecil Ramcharran called ‘Uncle Willie’ and Robin Chung called ‘Chung Boy’ who were slain at Goat Farm during a confrontation with lawmen. The two men have been linked to the Rondell `Fineman’ Rawlins gang.

Police had said they encountered `Fineman’ and his gang during a confrontation at Christmas Falls on June 6. They said that one of the gunmen was killed while six others managed to escape. The eight miners were believed to have been murdered sometime after this date.

Owner of the camp where the eight miners died, Lenoard Arokium, believes that members of the joint services were responsible for the deaths of the men and has said so publicly on many occasions following the June 21 discovery of bones and skulls at Camp Lindo. The Joint Services have since strongly denied this.
Greene said that the Trinidadians have suggested that they “do some additional things” after which a final and full report is expected.

Mark Fredricks and his mother lay a wreath in memory of Constable Shane Fredricks who was killed at the Bartica police station in the February 17 massacre.

Mark Fredricks and his mother lay a wreath in memory of Constable Shane Fredricks who was killed at the Bartica police station in the February 17 massacre.

And the Jamaicans, who are here to conduct DNA tests on the burnt remains of the slain, travelled to the location yesterday. The men arrived in the country on Friday night and Greene said on Saturday they looked at the reports of the local lawmen and were given copies of same.

The Ministry of Home Affairs had announced that after the US Government had indicated that it was unable to help Guyana in the investigation that help had been sought from CARICOM countries and that Trinidad, Jamaica and Barbados had all responded positively.

Meanwhile Greene, who was speaking to reporters following the wreath-laying ceremony for  fallen policemen, hinted that the suspect the police had announced they had in custody in relation to the Lindo Creek massacres may be used as a witness.

The acting commissioner when asked about the possible “infringing” of the rights of the person since the prescribed 72 hours had elapsed without a charge said that the person is “in custodial arrangements.” He pointed out that there are several issues they have to look at in relation to the Lindo Creek massacre and other criminal acts while pointing out that some persons are “support structures” to the criminal enterprise and some of them are charged while others are not.

“There are a number of things that are happening and we are working with the DPP (the Director of Public Prosecutions),” Greene said.

And the acting commissioner confirmed that the suspect and the witness he had spoken about earlier are one and the same.
Greene was quoted in the Kaieteur News recently as saying that the force has a witness who provided details to substantiate that the killings were carried out by Guyana’s most wanted,  ‘Fineman’ Rawlins’ gang. This announcement was greeted with scepticism.

Those who were killed at the site were Dax Arokium, Cedric Arokium, Compton Speirs, Horace Drakes, Clifton Wong, Lancelot Lee, Bonny Harry and Nigel Torres.

Of Course This Is What The Forces Wants The General Public To Beleive, But This Theory Is Making You Guys Look Rather Incompetent To Think That This Massacar Happened Right In Close Proximity Of Where The Forces Said They Had The Rondell “Fineman” Gang CORNERED And That Was Just A Matter Of Time Before The Wanted Men Was Captured Or Either Sucumb Starvation Or The Elements Of The Jungle, Now Let Me Stick a Pin Here For a Minute And Ask The Trillion Dollar Question That Only A Few Bloggers Here Can Answer In The Benefit Of The Forces While Others Will Hold There Judgement Because This Whole Version Does Not Add Up, HOW COULD A KILLING OF THIS MAGNITUDE ‘FIRE SMOKE” GO UNNOTICED WITH SUCH HEAVY POLICE AND SOLDIER PRESENCE?, I’m Simply Saying That Something Is Just Not Right Here !!!

It boggles the mind, Sir, to have heard from the authorities that they were on the tail of the fugitives from the inception of the operation, helicoptor and all, and that if the criminals werent killed or captured they would be lost and probably die in the dense jungle.
Then to hear that this atrocity happened under their very noses and they didnt even smell it. Isnt something terribly wrong here like in many other instances? That is why the government and the joint services are not trusted.

I totally agree with you Sir.

The problem here as we all know is one of credibility as it relates to the Joint Services.

Me thinks that this is a case of the JS asking themselves these questions:
    1. Do we prefer the lesser of the two evils: To appear buffoonishly incompetent and ridiculously inept by missing the screamingly obvious signs of a large bonfire within relatively close proximity of a JS search party who were assiduously searching for any sign, clue or trail of fleeing bandits? Or…
    2. Do we prefer to be discovered to be fatal blunderers who massacred a camp of innocent miners while in blind hot pursuit of a criminal gang?

Perhaps the JS did not think that we the readers of their spun tale would notice the glaringly obvious smoke trail that was practically screaming, “Here is a clue! Come search here!” You guys ever got the impression that we were not supposed to have noticed that?

No? Well mussie is jus me den…

Cosmike I asked that question before. I find it hard to believe that a fire that would have consume eight bodies would not have been noticed for miles in an area which is sparsely populated. If the Joint services were vigilantly pursuing these suspects, how come they weren’t attracted to smoke eminated from this camp??? They were believed to have been in this general location around the same time.

I think the police are working on a good approach to this matter, however who will protected witness testify against if the other criminals are killed or never caught. The Suspect/Witness may just end up getting a free ride for the crimes he has commited. good approach though, but just be careful, there may be pitfalls in this approach, but be sure to apply the protected witness approach in other matters, we will get results.

Of course the reports will back Greene theory. That’s because the scene was tampered to begin with to make it look like Fineman and his gang are the ones responsible for this tragedy. Who are they fooling??? I am still confused how the joint forces could be in hot persuit of these criminals, all exit blocked, however they are still not captured. Hmmm…….

My own view is that the criminal gang must have known that the miners were their and the miners know that people were at that camp too.
When the joint services confront the gang the first thing the gang will want to know who inform the lawmen. The gang will very well think that those men inform the police.
With the previous killing of that kind the gang did I think that is why the miners was killed.

The police have done it again. They wasted everyone’s time by providing shells from probably the Bartica shootings to the forensic teams. Why have they not recovered fingerprints from the hammer used in the slayings and compared them with those of the members of the search party hunting fineman and his gang?

An inventory of finemans toatal spent shells should have been taken whilst those were found ,I bet the amount found by the Trinidadians were the same amount missing from the Police inventory of fineman’s evidence. If the Government would go the extremes to ban an individual from press coverage at the Office of the President, stop a televison station from broadcasting and had even pulled Goverment Advertising from this Print Media just because of opposing views, something as serious as these murders what extent would’nt they go to cover this up.

There are too many sceptics on this site. Why are you all judging our security forces before a conclusion is made through the forensic examination being done by both of our Caribbean partners can complete their SCIENTIFIC investigations.
To say that there is a cover-up is to say that there is a foregone conclusion.
I accept the security forces have not been doing a good job so far, but it is no reason to prejudge. Are any of you bloggers experts at such security/criminal investigations. If so, why don’t you all “volunteer your services. ”

At the rate that Henry Greene and other members of our joint services are going, All Fool’s Day would soon become meaningless because they are constantly attempting to pull jokes on the Guyanese public. Yes, these guys aren’t restricting their jokes to All Fool’s Day anymore. I wish that Greene and company would remember that they get to pull jokes on our nation only once per year and that, on certain issues such as Lindo Creek, there aren’t too many fools in our country.

Now, confirming the origin of the few shells allegedly found at Lindo Creek was never the underlying reason for asking Trinidad to test those shells. Hey, any slightly sane person knows that those shells would be pinned on Fineman and his gang once the joint services denied any role in the massacre. Greene and company’s real reason for asking Trinidad to test the shells lies in the much maligned ballistics expertise of the GPF. Yes, given that T&T has now linked the shells to a gun found on one of Fineman’s dead associates, as previously alleged by the GPF, then no one, in the GPF’s All-Fool’s-Day estimation, should ever again question its ballistics results or expertise.

I guess that you wish it were that simple, Mr. Greene. We know that the GPF has the gun and ammunition that were allegedly in the possession of Fineman’s associate when he was killed. So should we not wonder if it were arranged for shells from that gun to be found at Lindo Creek? And should we not also ask you to produce the evidence that the shells were actually found at Lindo Creek? And should you not tell us how the alleged witness to Lindo Creek made it out of your vice-like cordon?

Look, Christmas is right around the corner, Mr. Greene. You can spare us the All Fool’s Day stuff and start telling us that we–fully grown, intelligent adults–should seriously consider asking Santa Claus to bring Guyana the refreshing gift of peace this Christmas, by delivering Fineman and his gang down a chimney that you’ll set up at police headquarters.
