Three held over Ogle road shooting Suspect car found on Norton St
Two women and a man were held for questioning into the high-voltage shooting on the Ogle airstrip road on Tuesday and the car believed used in the attack was also found at a Norton Street home
Meanwhile, the driver of the pick-up that came under heavy fire took his own discharge from hospital yesterday after a suspicious man walked into the High Dependency Unit (HDU) of the Georgetown Hospital.
The man who was sporting an eye patch was arrested by the police, stationed at the hospital police outpost sometime after noon and up to press time he was still in custody assisting with investigations.
Police said yesterday that they found a red AT 192 motor car with number plate PKK 4614 at a Norton Street home, which they suspect was used to transport the gunmen. Two women and a man were arrested.
Michael Jackson, a driver attached to an interior charter service which transports goods inclusive of valuable items, was shot in the buttocks when around four heavily armed gunmen opened fire on the vehicle he was driving, in what appears to have been a robbery attempt. During the ordeal which left the vehicle sporting numerous bullet holes, Vanessa Mendonca, a cleaner attached to the Ogle Aerodrome was also injured and had to be hospitalized.
Hospital sources told Stabroek News that yesterday’s ordeal was frightening and called for better security especially during visiting hours.
According to reports the man walked into the HDU ward inquiring about someone that is attached to the same company that Jackson works at before walking out back. The man then reportedly attempted to get information from a staff member and the police were subsequently informed.
Following the shooting police had said that they were looking for four men whose call names are `Trini’; `Yankee’; `Capone’ and `Sandman’ in connection with the suspected attempted robbery at Ogle during which Jackson and Mendonca were injured.
A senior police official told this newspaper that the men who are known criminal characters were wanted based on the information police received. The source said that the men are known to law enforcement authorities.
Around noon, Jackson who was transporting Margaret Maxius, a co-worker, two female cleaners and a porter left the Ogle aerodrome and as they turned onto the access road, they saw a maroon-coloured car parked at the side of the road and men holding long guns standing nearby. As the vehicle approached, the men began shooting.
The men then re-entered their car and followed Jackson’s vehicle, shooting wildly as the vehicles sped down the road.
Despite being shot, Jackson continued driving and managed to get to the Sparendaam Police Station.
Police subsequently went to the scene and retrieved a 7.62 x 39 spent shell and a warhead.

on July 19th, 2008 9:44 amWha happen to Trini, Capone, Yankee and Sandman?? Think they gone Fineman and Skinny? If they so ‘known to law enforcement’ why it taking so long to get them to answer some questions?

on July 20th, 2008 12:35 pmWell if the police found the vehicle involved in the ogle shooting and three persons arrested then the three of them just woke up one morning and found a car parked in their yard. Maybe they got lucky or a donation.
