US Embassy offering guidance on immigrant visa appointments

The Consular Section of the US Embassy in Georgetown  is now offering written guidance on how to prepare for immigrant visa appointments, with the aim of improving  service to immigrant visa applicants.

In a press release yesterday the Embassy  said that interested persons should e-mail visageorge@state.gov  and simply write “Interview Preparation Request” in the subject line of the e-mail.   The Consular Section, the release added,  will respond with detailed guidance on how to better prepare for immigrant visa appointments.

This information can also be found online at http://travel.state.gov/pdf/supplements/GEO-SUP-ENGL-0001-0809.pdf.

However,  this information is not available by phone and will not be provided in person at the Embassy, the release concluded.

    Hogwash !

” with the aim of improving service “? ;;;utter bilge !

    They have no desire to improve service;
They has quotas to meet and staff have to meet those quotas to get promoted,
etc; The more denials enforced, the better would be the anual performance
    review;

    Talk to me!
I have the inside track on this !

Hopefully applicants would not havre the merry-go- around with the web site
responses of “Page could not be found” or ” Your system cannot load the
    documents”.

I have absolutely no faith is this represenation of “the aim of improving service ”

    Poppycock !

Re: “the web site responses of “Page could not be found” or ” Your system cannot load the documents”.These look like typical issues to me when one considers (as was reported) that even American Citizens themselves had issues with the FEMA Site after Hurricane Katrina. There are indeed some typical “Web Browsers and Applications” issues from time to time; and, for examples - Internet Explorer access requirement and PDF format….

    Better luck next time. ;-)

They are heading towards another “Guidance” of visa-scam on Guyana’s soil.
“Can the devil case be tried in hell, when the devil himself is the judge”
Come on uncle sam, improve more your “guidance” at home, where charity starts first and stop borrowing money from China.

Come on now “SurMot” have you never heard about using “Other People’s Money Rather Than Your Own”. Besides if “Uncle Sam” does not buy from “Bubba” since you may not be able to do it then how do you expect “Bubba” to survive when no one else is there to “buy” from him. Can’t you be realistic for once. :-D

As a US citizen, you should comply and keep quiet if you want to emigrate. We do not ask immigrants to come here. They want to come,so they have to abide by our rules.Guyana has similar immigration rules for foreigners. So what is your gripe?Get in the real world.

Carl Vecook —-That is why you are NOT here in the USA . Some guyanese needs “guidance and lots of help ” in following simple instuctions of forms (I am not insulting guyanese –note –i said some ) . You need a visa –get it prepared right , get your documents in order (not bogus ) and prepare to answer the questions asked . Dont waste the counselers time and your money . Or GO to another country .

    Decanadian,
I quite agree with you. everything in their system is made to discourage visa applications of any kind. Recently my fiancée went through all the hastle and money to get the magic interview just to get a flat refusal, an unsigned letter saying that she was an “illegal immigrant risk”. All she wanted to do was transit through Miami on her way to a vacation spot elsewhere in the cariibean,

Are you the “Good Shepherd” 8-)

“Info is not available by phone or in person”….not everyone in Guyana has access to the internet….having pamphlets with the details outside of the embassy and/or maybe a phone recording informing callers of the details should also be provided, given the population….

Now, let de DIAMONDS, de Platinum, de “Silica Sand”, de Semi-Precious Stones pay for de “Service Fees” for de “Internet Connection”. :-$ ;-) :-$

Re: “point well taken Kaieteur Gold!!!!! ………………..to develop the Country….” Heaven only knows exactly Guyanese want and are waiting for; besides, the would be Guyanese entrepreneurs have the largest developmental financial institution at their disposal - The Inter-American Development Bank:

    http://www.iadb.org

Think about the hundreds of thousands of jobs that can be created if Guyana does the right thing by opening up its economy to industrial development. Additionally, how long before the “OIL” (Black Gold) (that the USA and other countries need) start to flow from the “OIL WELLS” and “PIPELINES” in Guyana.

Kaieteur Gold…man you had a hay-day with this US Embassy news.

A birdie chirping atop de tree?

Development still coming, but with world recession threatening and
apparently seeming to be a reality, Guyana will have a longer wait.

    Just keep your children informed.
They will be the ones to benefit.

Repeating myself from another Forum, development will come
but not in my lifetime !

Hey “decanadianCarlVeecock”, re: “Kaieteur Gold…man you had a hay-day with this US Embassy news. A birdie chirping atop de tree?” It would appear that the words (fondly repeated sometime ago by a certain Guyanese gold and diamond miner I happen to have known in the past ) “Were I not among the birds was seen then were I not a bird” seems to make some sense after all; and, if I were you I would not be so pessimistic in saying “development will come but not in my lifetime” as it is the belief that with the “authority” (intellectual capacity) comes the “Territory” and the “Allegiance”.

Never give up “trying” as people would know long after you are gone that at least you “tried” your best to achieve your goals in life.

    Once and Eagle! ;-)
