Corriverton Town Week kicks-off with 15/15 cricket

The long-awaited Corriverton Town Week is here and the Corriverton Town Council (CTC) has scheduled a 15/15 cricket competition involving four of Berbice’s top first division teams to compete for a first prize of $30,000 and a trophy to kick start the event.

Young Warriors, Rose Hall Canje, Scottsburg United and Skeldon Community Centre will compete in a virtual semi-final with the winners meeting each other in the finals of the 15-overs-a-side competition from 09:30 hrs at the Skeldon Community Centre ground.

Following hot on the heels of the last 15-overs-a-side competition held at the Rose Hall Canje ground last Sunday, Young Warriors should be highly favoured to come out on top in this competition against their opponents.

Players such as Gajanand Singh, Farouk Hussein, Paul Wintz and Richard Ramdeen are scheduled to be a part of the Young Warriors line-up while Robert Moore and Anthony Bramble are featured names in the Scottsburg line-up.

While not much is known of the Rose Hall Canje and Skeldon teams, they can be expected to put up a strong challenge to their opponents, whether they be Young Warriors or Scottsburg United.

The CTC has also scheduled a cultural event and pageant show for this month-end, along with day of sports at the Scottsburg ground featuring live music by the Brutal Jammers band. The much- anticipated Road Jam will take place on November 1 in Corriverton to culminate the celebrations.
