WBCA/Regency Suites Under-23 starts today

First round action in the West Berbice Cricket Association (WBCA)/ Regency Suites sponsored Under-23 limited overs competition commences today with six first round matches being played within the two zones.

In zone A, Blairmont Community Centre will host D’ Edward B at Blairmont, Number Two will oppose Woodley Park Strikers  at Number Two ground and D’ Edward A and Sun Down will do battle at D’ Edward.

Action in zone B will pit Bath and New Area Undertakers at Bath, Rainbow Generation will journey to Seafield to take on Bush Lot while Achievers and Union will face each other at Lovely Lass.

The 50-overs–a-side competition is being sponsored jointly by Paul Shivraj of Regency Suites and his brother Omprakash Shivraj of Buddy’s International Hotel, both of whom hail from Berbice, to the tune of $230,000 with the timely intervention of president of the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) Bish Panday and will see the winner getting $50,000 and a trophy.

Fourteen  teams divided into two zones are competing in the competition which was recently launched, and apart from the winner’s purse, the runners-up will receive $25,000 and a trophy, while the Man-of-the-Match in the finals will also benefit financially.
