Guns seized, after Berbice robbery bid

Four persons were arrested at #70 Village, Corentyne, Berbice on Wednesday following the attempted armed robbery of a goldsmith’s shop and a joiner’s shop.

A police statement said that about 2 pm on Wednesday one .32 Taurus Revolver with five matching rounds, one Luger MK 22 Carbine long rifle unframed, one spent shell and six .22 rounds of ammunition with a magazine were retrieved by the police.

Investigations have so far revealed that two men armed with guns were attempting to force their way into a yard at 147 Section A # 70 Village Corentyne which houses a goldsmith and a joinery, operated by Abdool Mohammed, 36, and Deon David, 18, a goldsmith of the same address. As a result a scuffle ensued and the two suspects received wounds about their bodies. They were taken for medical attention at Springlands Hospital where one was admitted and the other was treated and released into police custody.

Investigations are continuing.
