Family baffled over cane cutter’s suicide

Relatives of an East Coast Demerara cane cutter are baffled as to why he decided to end his life early yesterday morning.

Bhoj Kumar Teserdean, 42, of 38 Bladen Hall Public Road is the country’s latest victim of suicide. His body was discovered hanging by a rope from a beam in his bedroom around 4.30 am by his nephew and mother Sahodri Ramdass.

The grieving woman told Stabroek News that her son has been a cane cutter since the age of 19 and has no children or spouse. The woman said he never seemed suicidal.

Teserdean leaves to mourn his mother, six sisters, two brothers and other relatives and friends.
