Jailed for six months after kicking, cuffing elderly mom

A man who admitted to cuffing and kicking his elderly mother after she refused to give him food was yesterday sentenced to six months in prison by Magistrate Krishendat Persaud.

Ramlall Harrack, age 58, a labourer of Number 67 Village, Corentyne pleaded guilty to unlawful assault at the Springlands Magistrate’s Court.

On January 12 Harrack unlawfully assaulted his mother Rookmin Harrack who is an 87-year-old pensioner.

Police prosecutor Michael Grant told the court that Harrack came home late under the influence of alcohol and demanded food from his mother who refused. He then became annoyed and dealt her several cuffs and kicks about her body.
