Albouystown man remanded over raping, fondling 7-year-old

A 31-year-old Albouys-town man was yesterday remanded to prison by Acting Chief Magistrate Cecil Sullivan after being accused of raping and fondling a 7-year-old girl.

Odinga Garraway of Lot 165 Curtis Street, Albouystown was not required to plead to carnally knowing a girl under the age of 15 and two counts of indecent assault when he appeared in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

It is alleged that during August last year, Garraway had carnal knowledge of the child. On December 24 last and January 20 this year, he reportedly indecently assaulted the child.

Attorney-at-law Mark Waldron made no attempt to ask the court for bail. Instead he asked the court for an early court date.

The matter will be called again on Friday.
