Man accused of attempted murder remanded

Magistrate Kim Kyte-John on Tuesday remanded to prison a man who appeared before her at the Blairmont Magistrate’s Court to answer to a charge of attempted murder.

Colin Solomon, a mason and a father of two, of Seafield Village, West Berbice, is accused of wounding Michael Hercules with intent to commit murder. He was not required to plead to the charges.

Police Prosecutor Rawle Ferreira opposed bail on the grounds of the nature and gravity of the offence. He submitted that Hercules has suffered stab wounds in the region of his heart. He also told the court that the victim is presently in an unconscious state at the Georgetown Public Hospital.

Solomon was ordered to appear at the Weldaad Court on February 8.
