Trader remanded over larceny, armed robbery charges

A 28-year-old man appeared in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday on larceny and robbery under arms charges and was remanded to prison by Acting Chief Magistrate Cecil Sullivan.

Royston James called Brian Small, a trader of 28 Laing Avenue, West Ruimveldt, pleaded not guilty to the three charges.

It is alleged that on August 6 last at West Ruimveldt, James stole from Monica Mingo one gold chain valued $48,000.

It is also alleged that on January 22 this year at Georgetown, he stole a cell phone valued $35,000 from Roy Phillips.

Additionally it is alleged that on January 14, at Duncan and Sheriff streets, being armed with a gun he robbed Leon Campbell of one scooter valued $225,000.

Prosecutor Sherwin Matthews asked that the motorcycle be photographed and returned to the complainant. He told the court that it is lodged at the Brickdam Police Station.

James will return to Court Two today for another matter.
