Health Ministry spearheads national blood drive

The Ministry of Health played a lead role in urging government offices and private entities to participate in a national blood donation exercise.

The initiative was undertaken on Friday in collaboration with the National Blood Transfusion Centre (NBTC), according to a press release from the ministry.

On Friday recruitment officer at the NBTC, Marie Prasad and her team recorded 18 donors at the end of the exercise which was conducted at the ministry’s large boardroom.

The release said further that the blood donation exercise will also be conducted at several other government ministries and private entities that have already indicated their willingness. At present the NBTC staff is holding discussions with the interested donors before the exercises are conducted.
