Pedestrian crossings need repainting

Dear Editor,

I am aware that a lot of improvement works are taking place especially in region four for the upcoming World Cup Series. However I have spotted two sore issues that need urgent attention, failing which it can leave a lasting negative impression on the tourists.

1. The non-visibility of the respective pedestrian crossings especially in George-town. Also the scarcity of signs indicating one way streets. This is unsafe and would certainly appear primitive in the eyes of the tourists.

2. The careless vending of produce on the ground at the La Penitence and Plaisance Markets have been allowed for years on busy thoroughfares.

The authorities have to act now, if it has to do so only for the World Cup period. I am aware that most of these spruced up projects that have started will lack proper continuous maintenance.

The Industry/Plasisance Village District Council and the Mayor and City Council are the two main culprits in tolerating these outrageous acts.

I cannot tackle the two vending issues, but I am prepared to talk to a few individuals so that we can start assisting in the repainting of the pedestrian crossings. Interested persons can contact Mr. Parmanand Sukhu at his office at Maraj Building in Charlotte Street. We would appreciate your desire to assist. We are also contemplating forming a new group by the name of the Love for Humanity Action Group. Make contact with us early so we can commence our project early.

Yours faithfully,
