Woman put on $100,000 bail over abduction of 13-year-old’s baby

The woman who allegedly stole the newborn baby of a 13-year-old girl last December was yesterday released on $100,000 bail by Magistrate Oneidge Waldron-Allicock.

The preliminary inquiry into the incident also commenced yesterday with the teenager giving evidence against the defendant Marcel La Cruz, 25, of Lot 12 Supply, East Bank Demerara.

It is alleged that on December 28 at Georgetown La Cruz took away and detained an infant with intent to deprive the mother.

The case will continue next Tuesday when the teenager will be cross-examined by La Cruz’s lawyer Ronald Burch-Smith.
